Over 120 million years ago, a single mass of granite punched through the Earth’s crust and intruded into the heart of the Namib Desert. The Damara tribe’s name for the mountain is Dâures, which translates to Burning Mountain, derived from its glowing colour seen in the setting sun. A ring of dark, steep-sided rocks forced upward during the mountain’s arrival encircles the granite intruder. 

The worlds last desert elephants and desert lions roam these desolate plains that surround Dâures, the Jewel of the hauntingly beautiful Damaraland. We ride side by side with these majestic animals on our most remote and prized exhibition. Our Namibia Journey is by invitation only.
